02 - What is gross anatomy?

Gross anatomy (large) is the division of anatomy that speaks to the structures of the body that are visible to the naked eye. These include the bones, muscles, attachment points, and digestive organs to name a few.

There are two predominant ways in which anatomy can be studied: system and regional anatomy. System anatomy is sectioned into the 12 systems of the body (ex: Integumentary, Cardiovascular, Lymphathic & Immune, Digestive, Respiratory, Muscular, Nervous, Endocrine, and Reproductive). Regional anatomy focuses on the various external and regions of the body (ex: head, torso).

Historically, gross anatomy has been examined through cadaver dissections. In fact, the term anatomy stems from the Greek words for “I dissect”.

03 - Our Solution ✨

We wanted to take this opportunity to create illustrations that were vibrant and enticing to learn from. Color choice was an important part of this project.
