Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

Visualizing aortic heart valve replacements for interventional cardiology

We partnered up with researchers to visualize the surgical technique for transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR). This minimally invasive heart procedure is conducted to replace a thickened aortic valve that cannot fully open - this is called aortic valve stenosis. A malfunctioning valve results in reduced blood flow from the heart to the body.

The key to these highly technical illustrations was to accurately depict the orientation of the valve replacement in relationship to the aortic anatomy.
